Tesco Sandwich Platters go from Strength to Strength

As you may well know Raynors in association with The Platter Company have been making sandwich platters for Tesco since March this year.  The trial has been such a success that availability of the made to order service has been increased to cover 115 stores.  To find out if you can pop into your local Tesco and order your platters click here and visit The Platter Company’s website for a full list of participating outlets.

Remember we need at least four days notice to make your platters and deliver them to your local store, but you can order any time in advance.  Dare we say it, but you could even order now for Christmas and make a note in your diary to pick them up on the day of your party in two month’s time.  And you will be getting our quality ingredients and attention to detail in every individually boxed platter.  Click on the link and check if you can order from your Tesco.

Raynors Commission their first Hybrid Van

Raynors are pleased to announce the commissioning of their first Hybrid delivery vehicle. In a move that is designed to set the tone for future development, we have purchased a diesel/electric Hybrid Transit van.

Fitted with batteries, charged by the van whenever it brakes, the hybrid system reduces the amount of fuel expended by the van when it accelerates by using an electric motor to assist the diesel one.  This clean technology directly reduces the emissions  made by the van and increases the efficiency of the vehicle meaning that your sandwiches have a smaller carbon footprint.

Another example of Raynors fresh approach to sandwiches.

Local Sourcing Deal for Raynors

As part of Raynor Foods ongoing commitment to source local materials for our sandwiches, we are extremely pleased to announce that starting from this month we will be sourcing all of our ham from the award winning Wicks Manor Farm.  They are just outside the little village of Tolleshunt Major, deep in the heart of Essex just 17 miles from our Sandwichporium in Chelmsford.

After meeting our stringent supplier requirements they will supply among other products a Premium Local Ham produced using a Wiltshire curing process which is made from whole pork leg meat.  In addition we have also created a closed loop recycling system in which all our bread crusts (over one ton every week) is redirected from the factory to the farm to feed the pigs – in addition we have also started a reusable crate scheme to eliminate the  need to use typical cardboard packaging.

“We are delighted to be working with another established family business in Essex, securing all our ham from a local high quality supplier has been a tremendous achievement for us and a milestone on our journey for sourcing local foods to use in our award winning sandwiches” says Matthew Raynor, Managing director. “This is a big step forward in providing a much superior type of ham, produced locally and in environmentally sound ways.”

Wicks Manor is a family run pig farm that only produces top quality foods from their British Retail Consortium (BRC) approved butchery and cutting facilities.  Wheat and barley are also grown and milled on the farm to produce the pig food.  The pigs are very well looked after and live in open straw yards bedded with the straw baled from the farm.
